Weekapaug Fire District Office
Set just off the Weekapaug Breachway, this building plays a quiet but essential role in the daily life of the community, serving as the operational hub for the beaches and local residents. The original structure had fallen behind the demands of its location and we were brought in to rework it completely. A new build designed by architect Thomas A. Kligerman and constructed to meet the demands of its exposed coastal setting from the ground up. Every element was approached with durability, simplicity, and longevity in mind. Wrapped in classic cedar shingles with clean lines and strong proportions, the exterior is anchored by a subtle flared shingle detail at the base, adding depth, character, and a nod to traditional coastal architecture. Inside, the focus shifts to function with custom built-in shelving lining the walls creating a place for everything. The layout was designed to keep things efficient and accessible, while still feeling open and comfortable for meetings and community use.
