Tucked away in a coastal Rhode Island town, this summer cottage is a deeply personal home built around the beauty, warmth, and strength of wood. From the Ipe front porch to the custom wood details carried through every room, each space was designed to feel connected to nature. Different wood species, rich trim work, and expansive windows work together to create a home that feels warm, grounded, and alive with texture. Every inch of this home was an exercise in craftsmanship. Layered wood species, precise joinery, and custom detailing create depth you don’t just see, you feel. From the rich trim work to the hand-laid shingle pattern, each element was carefully considered and executed. A full wall of windows floods the space with natural light, highlighting the warmth and variation of the wood throughout. The result is a space that feels both open and grounded—simple, natural, and complete. We had the honor of working with architect Thomas A. Kligerman to bring this vision to life—creating a home where material, craftsmanship, and atmosphere come together seamlessly. We are very proud that this project is also featured in Kligerman’s new book Summer by the Sea.
